3.24.17 Dduk (rice cakes) are often used as a celebratory food. They can be colorful and shapely, and they can contain sweet fillings or just have a plain flavor. Rice cakes are chosen for particular occasions depending on their color and the role they play in Korea’s traditional culture. Oftentimes, they are used in weddings and birthday celebrations. My best friend brought these beautiful green and white rice cakes for the launch party of Please Love Umma. They were a great take-home Korean dessert that complimented the Korean appetizers served throughout the evening!
